Happy Valentine's Day...now go couch surf

Another 30 minutes to go till this day is officially over. 29 now. I always find it so amusing, when it's a holiday or semi-holiday, Google will spice up their logo. Sends me into a fit of giggles.I saw in a Jewish paper that they have at my school ("The Shipel") their is a website called Couchsurfing.com. You probably have already assumed what this is and you would probably be right. You can go anywhere in the world to visit and have a place to crash. So you can be dirt poor and still travel. Pretty amazing. They have feedback from people who have already done it and so far it's seems to be pretty good.
Also heard some good and not so good things about the MacBook Air. Apparently it is well designed but has zero battery life. It lasts just a little over 2 hours left to itself. Yeesh, not good. I would definitely not like to be in the position of having to allow my laptop to be babysat by an electric outlet. Not my thing...but otherwise it looks sharp and performs well.
I thought there was one other thing I had to share but I can't recall it at the present time. If I remember I'll jump back on here and tell you allllll about it.

News in TV

I think I'm going to add another topic to discuss on my blog: News. After all I figure I'm going to school to learn and do it, so I have some small expertise in the field. At least enough to yak about it. In my investigative class a guy came in to talk, Tim Lennox...interesting lecture. He made a few points about commercial television that I agree with wholeheartedly. For instance, in commercial TV news station, watch thier reports, the sound bites last about 8 seconds. I always thought "Now how can they really be reporting the news effectively if they are giving the expert or the speaker only 8 seconds to talk?" Tim made an excellent point. He said if we, as reporters, could go back in time to the days of Lincoln and we were reporting on the Gettysburg address, what 8 seconds of that speech would we put in a news report? Fabulous. Because you could not sum up that great speech in 8 seconds...there is no way. He brought up some other great points like how print journalists (newspapers) have a section that is dedicated to the errors/corrections they made in the last newspaper. But do we have that for TV news? Nope. We just "assume" we are perfect. News. Psh. Glad it's not my life's calling.

High Rise Unit Avaliable

Greetings to kinfolk and friends,

I haven't said anything to anybody about this until
now, because I wanted to wait until things were final.
I just purchased a one bedroom condo near Sanibel
Island in South Florida as an investment property.

It finally closed last week, so I thought that I would
let you all know in case anyone is interested in
accommodations for an upcoming getaway to the island.
It's available for weekends or on a weekly basis.
For now, I will be handling bookings until I can find an agent.

Weekends will cost about $100 for three nights and
$250 for the week. These prices are low because they
are for friends and family - Kin folk price!

Prices will be a bit different for people I don't know,
but we can discuss that on an individual basis.

In any case, it's a one bedroom, high-rise unit
that overlooks the ocean, nestled among lush
green trees, and has a lovely ocean view from
every window! See photo below.

Let me know if you're interested ...

But I've been busy...

A common phrase you hear from us bloggers...it's our way of getting a little pity from you while at the same time getting us off the hook. We are devious.

A invention I came across today that I thought was absolutely smashing was this:

I saw that and thought 'wow, life can't be any better than this.' However because I am a vegetarian now I would have to substitute those chicken nuggets with some cold asparagus. yum.

But yet again, my friends, yes, it can be improved.

MyChingo, it lets you hear readers comments, rather than read them. MyChingo is a voice mail message service that lets readers record comments from their browsers and send them to you. Michael Bailey, the guy who came up with the technology, says that you can even let other people who visit your site listen to the comments. Ummmm while that sounds nice and all...I'm not sure I am sold on that idea. Only because when I read someone's post or comment I like to add my own inflection in my mind of what they sound like and how they would say what they posted. But the theory is sweet.

Alright that's about all I can post right now. But believe you me, I will be back.
