The truth behind the lie

One day, when a seamstress was sewing while sitting close to a river, her thimble fell into the river. When she cried out, the Lord appeared and asked, 'My dear child, why are you crying?' The seamstress replied that her thimble had fallen into the water and that she needed it to help her husband in making a living for their family. The Lord dipped His hand into the water and pulled up a golden thimble set with sapphires..

'Is this your thimble?' the Lord asked the seamstress replied, 'No.'

The Lord again dipped into the river. He held out a golden thimble studded with rubies.

'Is this your thimble?' the Lord asked. Again, the seamstress replied, 'No.'

The Lord reached down again and came up with a leather thimble.

'Is this your thimble?' the Lord asked. The seamstress replied, 'Yes.' The Lord was pleased with the woman's honesty and gave her all three thimbles to keep, and the seamstress went home happy.

Some years later, the seamstress was walking with her husband along the riverbank, and her husband fell into the river and disappeared under the water. When she cried out, the Lord again appeared and asked her, 'Why are you crying?' 'Oh Lord, my husband has fallen into the river!'

The Lord went down into the water and came up with George Clooney. 'Is this your husband?' the Lord asked.

'Yes,' cried the seamstress. The Lord was furious. 'You lied! That is an untruth!' The seamstress replied, 'Oh, forgive me, my Lord. It is a misunderstanding. You see, if I had said 'no' to George Clooney, you would have come up with Brad Pitt.

Then if I said 'no' to him, you would have come up with my husband. Had I then said 'yes,' you would have given me all three. Lord, I'm not in the best of health and would not be able to take care of all three husbands, so THAT'S why I said 'yes' to George Clooney.

And so the Lord let her keep him.

Stay.

I pulled into the crowded parking lot at the Super Walmart Shopping Center
and rolled down the car windows to make sure my Labrador Retriever puppy had fresh air.
She was stretched full-out on the back seat
and I wanted to impress upon her that she must
remain there. I walked to the curb backward,
pointing my finger at the car and saying emphatically,
'Now you stay. Do you hear me?''Stay! Stay!'
The driver of a nearby car, a pretty blonde young
lady, gave me a strange look and said,
'Why don't you just put it in park?'

Have a nice Friday.

I can be your hero

Know what this is?

It's a "Hill-Billy".

Just remember...

No matter what situations life throw at you. .

No matter how long and treacherous your journey may seem. .

T-mobile to Facebook

Their selection of phones are killing me. I want their service but not their phones. Can they please fix that?

Did you hear Facebook has an application that allows, every semester or quarter, to elect a "New Facebook Worldwide President"? Well the French press just loved that. The whole situation made them look so good.

Open Courseware, Free Knowledge

All this opensource ware is catching up and its making a catch-up in academics. MIT is offering their class videos, lecture notes, syllabics, exams, and assignments online. And they aren't the only ones, Johns Hopkins, Tufts, Notre Dame and Yale are doing the same.
The only real major difference between online and real courses is that you can't get credit or earn a degree on free courseware (that's what it's called). Bummer. But still that is free info; info you don't have to pay for.
Another sweet thing is "iTunes U", a section of Apple's popular music and video downloading service, now publicly hosts free material from 28 colleges. Does it get better. Of course.
The University of California, Berkeley, recently announced it would be the first to make full course lectures available on YouTube. Well, to all you homeschooling moms, nerds, or people who simply want to watch a guy swing from a pendulum in class. I simply say: enjoy.

Directory assistance..for free

Meant to tell you my news years resolution. To be a vegetarian. :)
People ask me why and it just because I've always wanted to try it. So that's what I'm up to this year.
Anyhew on to some tech talk. I love 411 but I hate paying 25 cents for it (yeah I'm cheap).
Google has a 411 service (1-800-Goog-411) you can call that will give you the number to a place you are looking for, it can also send you a text message if you want. And if internet connection is available on your phone it can also send you directions. Sweet.

If you are completely against Google's dominion over people (don't know why you would be) but you still like that service, you can also call 1-800-FREE-411. This 411 service allows you to access the same directory assistance database used by traditional phone companies, except without the annoying charge. Wow, that sounds too good. It almost is. The free 411 is supported by advertisers. After you've made your 411 call, instead of hearing the information right after you've dialed in, you'll hear a 10-12 second advertisement and then the information you want will be relayed. Thats not bad.

Holi Canoli...

After spending way too much time on Google discussion groups and other blogs. I finally figured out its not just me. Seems like alot of people were struggling to put up their blogs on a custom domain name. Google's directions are not very clear in setting up a domain's CNAME with a hosting service and it's a little bit more complicated then the text shows (as usual with anything regarding technology). At least not very clear when it comes to using GoDaddy as your host. Which is what I was doing. After disabling and enabling both my start page and web page in Google Apps, I finally caved in and used another hosting service EveryDNS.net and I also still followed Google's directions on that. Now that should have been a huge waste of time, regarding my past history with Google directions and Godaddy, but this was much more accurate. They didn't send me looking for tabs that didn't exist. I followed it pretty much to the tee, with the exceptions of number 3 and 4. I didn't do those. Anyway, about an hour later I got a different Error 404 on my page and then I figured it was time to try setting up again in Blogger Settings. So I did. And it worked. *Hallelujah Chorus* It's beautiful. I can't say it was all me cause it definitely wasn't. So here's my thanks to all the guys and girls that shared the same frustration with me and worked it out anyway. Especially..

The making of a domain name

Agh. It's taking so much work and brain power for me to figure out how to take my Google blogspot.com domain name and change it into my desired domain name (mileless.com)
I thought this would be super easy. But no way jose. It's a little more work than that and I'm not sure I'm up for doing that kinda work. I thought going to Google Blogger Help and would help but so far no luck. The closest I came to was this and I tried doing the GoDaddy directions but no luck. I think I'm gonna have to pay to host it. I think thats what I have to do...Basically I bought my domain name via Google (mileless.com) and was hoping they would be able to host it and transfer all my blogging goodness to it. But I think I need to do more than just buy the domain name. I also have to go somewhere else to pay to host it. I should already know this but its taking a while for this info to sink in. I'm a slow learner.
